The Pakistan army’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), has highlighted the “victory of security forces” in Balochistan, despite a major intelligence failure. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) launched ‘Operation Herof 2.0’ on January 30, targeting law enforcement agencies and security forces in multiple cities of Balochistan. This operation, involving hundreds of fighters, went undetected by the ISI and military, raising questions about their capabilities.
Retired Indian Army Officer Nilesh Kunwar criticized the intelligence failure, emphasizing the extensive coordination required for such a large-scale operation. BLA fighters, including female soldiers, demonstrated a strong resolve by taking control of populated areas and engaging in prolonged battles. Contrary to the Pakistani army’s narrative, visuals showed civilians supporting and interacting with BLA fighters.
Kunwar called for accountability from Field Marshal Munir, questioning the army’s inability to subdue Baloch armed groups despite claiming local support. He also raised concerns about the alleged sponsorship of armed Baloch groups by New Delhi and the ISI’s failure to sever this link. The report highlighted the army’s statistical data on casualties, indicating a high toll on BLA fighters during Operation Herof 2.0.
