Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha expressed confidence in his team’s preparation for the T20 World Cup, despite not being allowed to play against India and recent disappointments in global tournaments. Agha emphasized that Pakistan would abide by government directives regarding the India match and highlighted the team’s enthusiasm for the upcoming group-stage games. He acknowledged past setbacks but emphasized a fresh start for the team in the new World Cup, aiming to create a conducive environment for his players.

Agha, leading Pakistan in a World Cup for the first time, expressed his excitement about the opportunity and his commitment to leading by example to bring out the best in his players. Addressing the absence of an India-Pakistan clash in Colombo, Agha encouraged fans to support the other matches, assuring them of an exciting spectacle. Despite Pakistan’s recent struggles in major tournaments, Agha maintained a positive outlook, expressing the team’s belief in their ability to perform well in the current tournament.

When asked about the possibility of facing India later in the competition, Agha reiterated the team’s stance of respecting government decisions. He highlighted Pakistan’s recent success against Australia as a confidence booster, emphasizing the team’s strong form leading into the World Cup. Agha also appreciated the support from Bangladesh fans and stressed the importance of treating all opponents with equal seriousness, regardless of their ranking.

Reflecting on Pakistan’s recent resurgence after disappointments in previous ICC events, Agha emphasized the team’s improved performance and unity. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception in Sri Lanka, a place that feels like a second home due to the team’s past experiences and local support. Despite potential weather challenges in Colombo, Agha emphasized the team’s focus on delivering a strong performance and overcoming any obstacles that may arise during the tournament.
