Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Netherlands counterpart, Rob Jetten, held official talks at the latter’s residence in The Hague. They discussed enhancing the India-Netherlands relationship and decided to upgrade it to a “Strategic Partnership.” The leaders also agreed on a comprehensive Roadmap for Strategic Partnership covering various sectors like trade, defense, technology, renewable energy, and education.
Reflecting shared values and increasing cooperation, both Prime Ministers emphasized the potential for Dutch companies in India’s growth story. They highlighted progress in bilateral cooperation and the importance of collaboration in areas like water, agriculture, and health. The leaders welcomed expanding partnerships in healthcare research, digital health, agriculture, and food safety.
PM Modi and PM Jetten emphasized the need to boost trade and investment ties between the two countries. They called for the early signing and implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and stressed cooperation in critical minerals. Additionally, they discussed enhancing collaboration in emerging technologies such as AI and Semiconductors, including organizing hackathons involving youth from both nations.
The leaders underlined the significance of renewable energy cooperation, focusing on green hydrogen, biofuels, and maritime logistics for a sustainable future. They also supported initiatives to strengthen mobility partnerships and higher education cooperation. Furthermore, they acknowledged the cultural ties between India and the Netherlands, appreciating efforts to preserve historic artefacts and advance knowledge in this area.
Following the official talks, several agreements and Memoranda of Understanding were signed in technology, green energy, trade, mobility, education, and culture. A Joint statement and the Roadmap on Strategic Partnership were adopted during PM Modi’s visit to The Hague. PM Modi invited PM Jetten to India, further strengthening the bilateral relationship grounded in shared values and diverse cooperation.
