Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kolkata to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Suvendu Adhikari as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Accompanied by Adhikari and state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya, PM Modi rode in an open-air jeep at the Brigade Parade Grounds, acknowledging the cheers of BJP supporters.
The venue was adorned in saffron hues, with artists performing traditional drum beats. PM Modi later greeted party workers and leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. He also met Makhanlal Sarkar, a senior BJP worker, presented him with a shawl, and sought his blessings.
Expressing gratitude to the supporters for the BJP’s success in the West Bengal Assembly elections, PM Modi interacted with the crowd from the stage. Suvendu Adhikari then took the oath as the ninth Chief Minister of West Bengal in the presence of PM Modi and other dignitaries, marking a significant political shift in the state.
