Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a three-day State Visit to Seychelles to participate in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the country’s National Day as the Guest of Honour and to enhance bilateral cooperation. Upon arrival, Seychelles President Patrick Herminie and other top officials warmly welcomed PM Modi at the airport. Expressing gratitude for the reception, PM Modi highlighted Seychelles’ significance as a maritime partner and a close friend in the Indian Ocean, emphasizing the aim of strengthening ties and fostering cooperation for mutual benefits.
During his visit from June 27 to June 29, PM Modi is set to engage in the Golden Jubilee festivities of Seychelles’ National Day as the Guest of Honour. He underscored Seychelles’ role as a valued maritime neighbor and a key partner in India’s ‘Vision MAHASAGAR’ and the shared commitment to the Global South. PM Modi emphasized the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, rooted in trust, democratic values, diversity, and a strong bond between their peoples.
In addition to participating in bilateral discussions with President Herminie, PM Modi is scheduled to address the Seychelles National Assembly and interact with the Indian diaspora. He expressed eagerness about becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles, highlighting the democratic values and parliamentary traditions uniting the two countries. PM Modi also anticipated engaging with the vibrant Indian community in Seychelles, recognizing their role in nurturing the special friendship between the two nations and serving as a bridge for generations.
PM Modi’s visit aims to deepen the longstanding ties between India and Seychelles, enhance maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean region, and advance the shared vision of a secure, peaceful, and prosperous Indian Ocean region.
