Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Rumen Radev and his Progressive Bulgaria party on their victory in Bulgaria’s parliamentary elections. Modi expressed eagerness to enhance the ties between India and Bulgaria. The Progressive Bulgaria coalition, led by former President Rumen Radev, secured a significant win in the elections.
Out of the votes counted, the Progressive Bulgaria coalition received 44.691%, as per the country’s Central Election Commission. Following them, the GERB-UDF coalition got 13.398% of the vote, and the PP-DB coalition received 13.210%. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and the Revival party garnered 6.233% and 4.354% of the vote, respectively.
Bulgaria recently held its eighth parliamentary election in five years due to the previous government’s resignation amid protests. India and Bulgaria share longstanding and warm relations with deep cultural and people-to-people ties. Despite political changes, both countries have maintained a close and multi-dimensional relationship over the years.
