The Indian community in Indonesia, particularly large, showed evident joy and excitement following PM Modi’s address. Many Indian diaspora members have been residing in Indonesia for an extended period, establishing their businesses. Indian cuisine enjoys popularity in Indonesia, with individuals of Indian descent operating restaurants in traditional Indian style, offering authentic Indian flavors.
Owners of the Indian Flame restaurant, Bhagwat Nautiyal and Neelam Nautiyal from Uttarakhand, expressed how PM Modi’s speech inspired them and others to follow his guidance. Neelam Nautiyal, speaking to reporters, shared her impressions of PM Modi’s visit, noting the curiosity it sparked among Indian immigrants and their deep connection to their roots. She expressed pride in attending the event and the opportunity to welcome the Prime Minister.
Siddharth Thaparia, President of the India Club Jakarta, expressed satisfaction in organizing a successful reception for PM Modi, attended by around 4,000 people. He highlighted the attendees’ strong sense of connection to India after hearing PM Modi’s speech. Thaparia anticipated that the Prime Minister’s visit would not only strengthen economic ties between India and Indonesia but also elevate people-to-people interactions and enhance India’s influence in the region.
