Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently held discussions with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic regarding the early implementation of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to bolster bilateral ties. The meeting took place during the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that both leaders explored avenues to strengthen India-Croatia relations, focusing on areas such as AI, information technologies, innovation, and clean energy.
During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged Croatia’s keen interest in Indology, Yoga, and Ayurveda. Additionally, PM Modi engaged with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo to further cooperation in sustainability, digitalization, AI research, and ethical innovation. The leaders also discussed the significance of the India-EU FTA, aiming to double trade between India and Finland for economic growth.
Furthermore, the discussions between the leaders extended to futuristic technologies like 6G, clean energy, biofuels, and circular economy. Notably, negotiations for the India-EU FTA were recently concluded, marking a significant step towards establishing a vast trading bloc encompassing 2 billion individuals. The agreement focuses on reducing tariffs on various goods, enhancing market access for services, and fostering collaboration in clean technology and digital trade.
