Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended athletes Gurindervir Singh and Animesh Kujur for breaking national records and expressed confidence in their ability to elevate the country further. During his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio program, PM Modi highlighted the exceptional achievements of citizens contributing to the nation’s progress and society, citing the recent National Senior Athletics Federation Competition in Ranchi where four national records were shattered. Gurindervir Singh and Animesh Kujur notably broke the national record for the Men’s 100-meter race three times within two days, a feat lauded by the Prime Minister during his conversation with the athletes.

Highlighting their dedication to sports, Kujur, hailing from Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, shared his journey into short-sprint events amidst the pandemic, while Gurindervir Singh, an Indian Navy Petty Officer, credited his family’s sporting legacy for his success. PM Modi praised the duo for their remarkable achievements and their commitment to elevating India’s sprinting prowess. Singh and Kujur, friends off the field but competitors on it, expressed their mutual goal of making India proud through their sporting endeavors.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of their sportsmanship in enhancing the country’s reputation and fostering a positive competitive spirit. Singh and Kujur’s determination to excel and support each other was commended as exemplary work towards India’s progress and sporting glory.
