In Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district, the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyaan (PMJANMAN) is making a significant impact by providing assistance to those unable to afford permanent housing. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2023, this initiative has brought about a positive change in the lives of homeless tribal individuals in Gariaband district, enabling them to construct their own pucca houses.
The scheme offers financial aid, specifically targeting the tribal population, to support the construction of durable houses. In Divna village, within the Chhura block of Gariaband district, numerous tribal families have benefited from the PM JANMAN yojana, receiving permanent homes.
Previously residing in mud huts and facing threats from wildlife, such as snakes and scorpions, these families now enjoy the safety and comfort of pucca houses, alleviating their previous fears. Beneficiaries like Bhanu Ram and Mahto Ram expressed their gratitude for the scheme, highlighting the positive impact of having a secure and permanent dwelling on their lives.
The PM JANMAN initiative, a key government program, aims to provide essential amenities like safe housing, clean water, education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities to the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) population over a span of three years.
