Police in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, have apprehended a notorious female drug peddler during a routine checking operation at Laalan Bypass. The woman, identified as Shugafta Akhter, was found in possession of a heroin-like substance and is already wanted in multiple narcotics cases.
Shugafta Akhter, daughter of Mohd Hussain Dar from Dangerpora, Anantnag, attempted to escape upon seeing the police but was swiftly caught. An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act, and investigations are underway regarding her involvement in drug trafficking.
This arrest is a significant achievement in the fight against drug trafficking in the district. The police have intensified their efforts against drug smugglers and peddlers as part of their ongoing anti-drug campaign.
Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha recently launched the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, emphasizing punitive actions against drug smugglers, including confiscation of documents and properties acquired through drug-related activities.
