Various Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and administrative bodies at the central and state levels have begun adopting fuel-saving strategies in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plea to cut down on fuel consumption amidst the ongoing global energy crisis sparked by the conflict in West Asia.
In compliance with PM Modi’s appeal, several ministers and officials have opted for alternatives such as Metro travel, electric vehicles, and downsizing their convoys to conserve fuel and encourage energy-efficient practices. For instance, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently reduced the size of their convoys as part of this initiative.
In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged citizens to embrace fuel-saving practices and energy-efficient solutions following the Prime Minister’s directive. The state government has mandated a 50% reduction in official convoy vehicles and encouraged remote work arrangements and virtual meetings to promote sustainability.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has also downsized his official convoy from 13 to 8 vehicles in line with PM Modi’s call for fuel conservation. Additionally, the Madhya Pradesh government has banned vehicle rallies and instructed officials to minimize vehicle usage and avoid extravagant processions.
