World Championship bronze medalist Pooja Rani and India international Jadumani Singh achieved comfortable victories at the Elite Men and Women National Boxing Championships held at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida. This edition marks the first time the men’s and women’s National Championships are taking place simultaneously at the same venue, with over 600 boxers competing across 10 weight categories each.

Pooja Rani from Haryana, competing in the 75–80kg category, defeated Anju from Chandigarh convincingly with a 5–0 scoreline, showcasing her dominance. Similarly, Jadumani Singh in the 50–55kg category displayed a commanding performance against R Parthiban from Tamil Nadu, leading to the referee stopping the bout in the second round.

In contrast, Lovlina Borgohain and Amit Panghal faced tough challenges to progress in the tournament. Lovlina had a closely contested match against Saweety from Assam, eventually winning 3–2 in a split decision. Amit Panghal, a former Commonwealth Games gold medalist in the 50–55kg category representing SSCB, narrowly defeated Priyanshu of Haryana with a 3–2 split decision.

Several other notable boxers are participating in the Nationals, including reigning World Champion Jaismine, World Championships bronze medalists Pooja Rani and Parveen, former World Champion Nitu Ghanghas, Asian Games bronze medalist Preeti Pawar among women, and World Boxing Cup Finals gold medalist Hitesh and Sachin, World Boxing Cup Finals silver medalist Abhinash Jamwal, and Asian Games bronze medalist Narender Berwal among men.

The competition criteria specify that each member association has sent a maximum of 10 male and 10 female boxers, with direct entry granted to athletes who participated in the World Boxing Cup Finals in Noida in November 2025. Eligibility for participation is limited to boxers born between January 1, 1985, and December 31, 2006.

Following the Nationals, all medalists in Olympic weight categories will be invited to the national camp. However, only gold and silver medalists from non-Olympic weight categories will be included in the camp post the Championships.
