The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, a government initiative supporting small farmers, has brought dignity and relief to farmers in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh. Farmers in the district are using the funds from the scheme to enhance their farming activities and livelihoods, expressing gratitude for the crucial financial aid. Mannu Thakur, a local farmer, highlighted how the scheme’s Rs 2,000 installment helps during tough times, ensuring stability when crop returns are low.
Many farmers, including Anurag Thakur, who is yet to enroll in the scheme, emphasized the challenges faced by farmers in the region, stressing the importance of government support. Under the PM-KISAN scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs 2,000 directly in their bank accounts in three installments annually, providing a total assistance of Rs 6,000 per year. Narayan Prasad Dhurve, a senior official in the Agriculture Department, mentioned the benefits of other schemes like Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, emphasizing the transparent verification process for agricultural equipment.
