Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, speaking at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, highlighted the crucial task of delivering sustainability on a large scale and quickly. He stressed that the focus should be on creating resilient and scalable infrastructure to attract long-term investments. Joshi pointed out that sustainability is now a key driver of economic growth and global competitiveness, moving beyond just an environmental concern.
At various high-level sessions, Joshi showcased India’s success in achieving 267 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by December 2025, well on track to meet its 2030 targets. He attributed this progress to robust policies, domestic manufacturing, grid modernization, energy storage solutions, and advancements in geothermal and nuclear energy. Joshi emphasized the importance of patient capital, blended finance, and collaboration among governments, private sectors, and multilateral development banks for a successful global energy transition.
During a roundtable discussion on “Delivering Sustainability at Scale,” Joshi reiterated India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. He described sustainability as a profound transformation of the economy and society, guided by the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — One Earth, One Family, One Future.
