The local administration in Ahmedabad is gearing up for the 149th Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra scheduled for July 16. Civic officials, police, temple representatives, and community leaders are collaborating to ensure a peaceful and smooth procession. A recent meeting chaired by Mayor Hitesh Barot focused on coordination among various departments to maintain law and order and communal harmony during the event.
Authorities are reviewing past experiences to enhance this year’s Rath Yatra organization based on recommendations from the Jagannath Temple Trust. Special measures for the elephants in the procession have been outlined, including restrictions on high-volume sound systems. Traffic management, infrastructure improvements, and cleanliness initiatives are also being prioritized for the event.
Preparations involve strengthening power infrastructure, cleaning drainage lines, and ensuring adequate water supply for the procession. Coordination efforts among the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, police, and other agencies are in full swing to complete all necessary arrangements before the upcoming Rath Yatra on July 16.
