Punjab Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal stated that the government has established a monitoring system to safeguard lives, farmland, and infrastructure during the monsoon. In a meeting, he reviewed flood protection and drainage management efforts, emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring and immediate action at flood-prone areas. Goyal also directed officials to expedite desilting projects before the peak monsoon to prevent waterlogging.
Goyal oversaw various flood protection initiatives, including embankment works and drain cleaning, amounting to approximately Rs 414.75 crore. He urged field officers to stay vigilant and respond promptly to any emergencies during the monsoon season. The minister assured that the government is well-prepared to handle flood situations by executing protection works, monitoring closely, and collaborating with relevant departments and agencies for public safety.
