Extensive preparations are in progress for the upcoming Rath Yatra 2026 in Puri. The district administration is ensuring a smooth and safe conduct of the annual religious festival. Around 200 Executive Magistrates have been deployed at various city locations for security and crowd management.
Puri Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida mentioned that comprehensive arrangements have been made for this year’s Rath Yatra. Focus is on crowd control, security, essential services, and devotees’ convenience. Additional Executive Magistrates, about 200 in number, have been stationed at various locations for this year’s event.
The district administration is working on various aspects of festival management, including regulating devotee movement, maintaining law and order, and enhancing public amenities. Traditional craftsmanship related to the grand chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra is adding to the spiritual and cultural richness of the Rath Yatra.
Meanwhile, Sagar Sahu Kansari, a traditional brass artisan servitor involved in the Rath Yatra preparations, emphasized the significance of decorative elements used during the festival. The Rath Yatra, a significant religious festival in Odisha, draws numerous devotees annually for the ceremonial pulling of the majestic chariots through Puri’s streets.
