The inaugural Freedom 250 Grand Prix, a two-day IndyCar street race scheduled for August 22 and 23 in Washington, was announced by Trump. This event is part of the America 250 celebrations commemorating the 250th anniversary of US independence. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy praised the event for showcasing American engineering and patriotism, aligning with the country’s industrial heritage and future.
Roger Penske, chairman of Penske Corporation, mentioned that over 250,000 individuals have already shown interest in attending the event. He likened the significance of the race to the iconic Indy 500, emphasizing its importance in the motorsports world.
