A protest camp in Quetta, Pakistan’s Balochistan province, has reached its 6133rd day outside the Quetta Press Club. Organized by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), the camp aims to raise awareness about enforced disappearances. Participants, including the family of Muhammad Siddiq Langoo, demand the safe recovery of missing individuals.
Last week, VBMP chairman Nasrullah Baloch expressed concern over the discovery of bodies of missing persons in Balochistan. He condemned such actions as inhumane and a violation of the law, calling for an end to extrajudicial measures. Baloch emphasized the need for state institutions to address enforced disappearances and ensure suspects are presented before courts lawfully.
BYC senior leader Sabiha Baloch recently highlighted human rights issues in Balochistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council. She raised alarms over enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the targeting of journalists and activists. Baloch urged the UN to conduct an impartial review of the human rights situation in the region, emphasizing the systematic nature of these violations.
