Tension flared outside Vivekananda Vidyalaya in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, as residents and family members of a Class 10 student protested for a fair investigation into her death. The 15-year-old student, Shweta Kumari, reportedly died by suicide after facing mental harassment from a fellow student and alleged intimidation by a teacher. Demonstrators demanded justice and strict legal action outside the school’s main gate.
The victim’s father, Sanjay Gupta, revealed that a male student at the school, identified as Solenz Rana, had been harassing Shweta for about a month, causing her severe mental stress. The family also accused a teacher, Pratibha Singh, of mentally threatening the student through phone calls. Due to the alleged harassment, Shweta consumed poison and later passed away during treatment at Medanta Hospital in Ranchi.
Bara Bazar police station officials intervened during the protest, assuring an impartial investigation. The family and residents were promised that the accused student and teacher would be arrested and put in judicial custody within a week. A case has been registered based on the victim’s father’s complaint, with the investigation utilizing technical and scientific evidence.
