Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon has penned a letter to World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, appreciating his comments on the state’s rural economy. Dhillon highlighted the economic challenges faced by Punjab’s youth, emphasizing the need for sustainable livelihoods and long-term rural development. He urged the state government to address the deep economic and social transitions in rural Punjab with seriousness and political will.
Dhillon underscored Punjab’s historical role in ensuring India’s food security and called for recognition, empathy, and action from the government. He criticized the AAP government for its silence on crucial issues and failure to provide adequate support to rural communities transitioning away from traditional agrarian systems. Dhillon also reiterated the BJP’s commitment to combating drug abuse through law enforcement, de-addiction programs, and community involvement, which he believes are lacking under the current administration.
Inviting Banga for direct engagement, Dhillon expressed confidence in Punjab’s ability to overcome challenges and drive its own resurgence. He emphasized the state’s resilience, capabilities, and human capital as key factors in Punjab’s future success.
