Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed disappointment over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, blaming the BJP-led Central government for the incident. He voiced concerns about the impact on students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, whose futures are at stake due to the leak. Mann emphasized the significance of the medical entrance exam for numerous students.
Mann highlighted the aspirations of economically disadvantaged students who strive to fulfill their families’ dreams by pursuing a career in medicine, only to face setbacks when exam papers are compromised. He criticized the situation where affluent individuals can purchase leaked question papers, undermining the hard work of honest students. The Chief Minister underscored the devastating consequences such leaks have on students’ ambitions.
Discussing the progress in Punjab under the AAP government, Mann mentioned ongoing infrastructure developments, including road construction, school and hospital enhancements, and the establishment of Aam Aadmi Clinics. He praised the academic achievements of Punjab’s students, citing success in exams like JEE Main and NEET, as well as exceptional performances in the 12th board exams. Mann also stressed the importance of creating job opportunities to retain talent within the country and prevent brain drain.
During his meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Mann addressed the need to upgrade several highways in Punjab to National Highways and widen state highways. He highlighted pending road projects, such as the route from the airport to Darbar Sahib and access to the Wagah Border, seeking expedited completion. Mann expressed gratitude to Gadkari for committing to allocate Rs 400 crore from the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund to Punjab for infrastructure improvements.
