Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, during his visit to Gujarat, emphasized his state’s accomplishments at a press conference. He spotlighted the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana, a welfare initiative by the AAP government in Punjab, offering up to Rs 10 lakh in medical treatment to families without income-based restrictions. Mann pointed out that every family in Punjab can avail free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh with just an Aadhaar card, eliminating the need for green or yellow cards or any other conditions.
Discussing the financial challenges faced by families during illnesses, Mann shared instances where families had to sell assets to cover medical expenses. He highlighted that the government’s scheme ensures coverage for such costs, encompassing various treatments like kidney transplants, dialysis, heart-related ailments, and mental health issues. The scheme extends support to all family members, renewing the Rs 10 lakh limit annually after the first year.
Mann also drew attention to the healthcare scenario in rural Gujarat, where residents often travel to cities for minor health issues, incurring substantial expenses. In contrast, Punjab’s Aam Aadmi Clinics, present in every village or cluster, offer a range of tests and essential medicines free of cost. He assured that in Punjab, treatment denial based on financial reasons is prohibited, encompassing government employees and pensioners, with strict enforcement against hospitals withholding deceased bodies due to unpaid bills.
Touching upon electricity provisions, Mann mentioned the allocation of 600 free units annually to all, regardless of appliances, with farmers already benefiting from free electricity. Punjab’s significant contributions to the national food supply, including rice and wheat, were also highlighted. Mann shared feedback from Punjabis residing abroad, indicating a lack of similar schemes in their host countries, emphasizing the comprehensive coverage provided by Punjab’s initiatives compared to partial insurance coverage elsewhere.
Critiquing the political landscape, Mann criticized the coordination between Congress and BJP in Gujarat, labeling their policies and actions as ineffective. He urged the people of Gujarat to support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for a government that truly represents the populace.
