Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann criticized the BJP for allegedly tampering with a video of former Delhi CM Atishi, calling it a deliberate attempt to incite communal tensions in Punjab. He emphasized that the state government would not allow such divisive actions to succeed and highlighted forensic evidence proving the video manipulation. CM Mann defended Punjab Police’s actions against BJP’s Kapil Mishra, stating that the falsified clip was not part of official Assembly records and accused the BJP of pursuing an anti-Punjab agenda.
The Chief Minister accused the BJP of promoting communalism and hatred, especially as the Assembly elections draw near, aiming to divide people along sectarian lines in Punjab. He condemned the morphing of Atishi’s video with false subtitles, labeling it sacrilegious and deeply offensive to the Sikh community. CM Mann vowed that those responsible for the video manipulation would face consequences for their actions, emphasizing that such behavior would not be tolerated.
Referring to BJP’s Kapil Mishra, CM Mann asserted that the individual who shared the altered video on social media would be held accountable for his actions, with the Punjab Police taking appropriate legal measures. He criticized the BJP’s attitude towards Punjab as hostile, pointing out the challenges faced by former CM Capt Amarinder Singh and other leaders in justifying the party’s actions. The Chief Minister also highlighted the lack of respect shown by the BJP towards Sikh Guru Sahibs, citing instances where the Prime Minister and other central leaders did not attend significant Sikh events in Punjab.
