Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav recently unveiled advanced technical and intelligence amenities at the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) police station in Mohali. This includes the cutting-edge Special Intelligence and Technical Unit (SITU), the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) room, interrogation room, and the Deputy Superintendent of Police office. The ANTF police station, previously inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in August 2024, has been transformed into a modern investigation and intelligence center, playing a crucial role in anti-narcotics operations.
DGP Yadav emphasized that these new facilities will significantly boost scientific investigation, digital evidence analysis, intelligence gathering, technical surveillance, and access to criminal databases, thereby enhancing the quality and effectiveness of narcotics investigations. He highlighted the ongoing infrastructure development, mentioning that the state-of-the-art ANTF office complexes in Patiala, Jalandhar, and Bathinda are operational. Additionally, construction is underway for new facilities in Ludhiana and Ferozepur, with plans progressing smoothly for a dedicated ANTF facility in Amritsar, where the space has already been finalized.
The state government has allocated Rs 11.5 crore each for the years 2024-25 and 2025-26 to upgrade technical infrastructure, including surveillance systems, communication infrastructure, cyber intelligence capabilities, and digital investigation tools across ANTF headquarters and range offices. DGP Yadav further disclosed an additional Rs 14.16 crore investment to further strengthen ANTF’s technical capabilities. Moreover, ANTF Punjab has been appointed as the state NCORD (Narco Coordination Centre) Secretariat, facilitating coordination among various departments and enforcement agencies, intelligence sharing, and monitoring of anti-drug initiatives statewide.
