Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa took to social media to express her disappointment at the sudden removal of Diljit Dosanjh’s movie ‘Satluj’ from an OTT platform just 2 days after its release. Neeru, who has collaborated with Diljit on multiple projects, emphasized the audience’s right to choose whether to support or criticize a film. She demanded transparency, stating that viewers deserve an explanation for the movie’s removal.
In her Instagram Stories, Neeru shared, “I watched Satluj, emotions are definitely stirred. A film is more than entertainment—it’s the voice of its creators, their passion, their truth, and years of hard work. No one should have the power to silence that without accountability (sic).” She stressed that the decision to watch or critique a film should rest with the audience, condemning the removal of this choice.
Neeru highlighted the importance of Punjabi stories being accessible to the community, stating, “We aren’t asking for special treatment—we’re asking for the truth, for fairness, and for the freedom to experience a film and form our own opinions. Our voices matter. Our stories matter. And the truth matters.” She expressed feeling betrayed as a Punjabi due to the removal of ‘Satluj,’ emphasizing that such stories reflecting culture and identity should not be silenced.
Neeru also shared her disappointment on social media, expressing her sadness at not being able to watch ‘Satluj’ before its removal from the OTT platform. The movie, ‘Satluj,’ which faced censorship challenges, was eventually released on ZEE5 but was abruptly pulled down in India within 2 days of its premiere.
