As the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 progressed into its third day, Rahul Gandhi, a leader of the Congress party, expressed disapproval of the event, claiming it prioritized publicity over enhancing India’s artificial intelligence ecosystem. Gandhi criticized the summit for neglecting India’s talent and responsible data usage, transforming it into what he called a chaotic public relations display. He highlighted the presence of Chinese products and the alleged sale of Indian data at the summit.
Rahul Gandhi took to social media to voice his concerns, stating that the AI summit had deviated from its intended purpose. He emphasized the importance of leveraging India’s talent and data for the country’s advancement rather than allowing it to become a platform for showcasing foreign products. Gandhi also shared a post by the Congress party that criticized the Modi government for allegedly tarnishing India’s global reputation in the field of artificial intelligence.
The Congress party accused the government of undermining India’s potential in the AI sector and allowing Chinese robots to be misrepresented as Indian innovations at the summit. They specifically called out Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for allegedly endorsing Chinese-made products during the event. The party further claimed that India, with its abundant data resources and skilled workforce, had the capacity to lead globally in AI but was being held back by the government’s actions.
Authorities intervened at the AI Impact Summit Expo, instructing Galgotias University to remove a Chinese-made robotic dog that was being showcased as the university’s creation. Following public backlash, the university defended its display, clarifying that the robotic programming was part of its educational curriculum to equip students with AI development skills using international tools. The India-AI Impact Summit, themed around “People, Planet, and Progress,” aims to foster advancements in artificial intelligence for both national development and global innovation.
