Ahmedabad Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash recently oversaw a thorough inspection of monsoon readiness and infrastructure progress in key areas of the Ahmedabad Division. The focus was on ensuring smooth train operations and passenger safety during the rainy season. The inspection specifically covered the Ahmedabad-Barejadi and Ahmedabad-Viramgam railway sections, with a review of drainage systems, waterlogging prevention measures, and station redevelopment projects.
Ved Prakash evaluated the measures in place to prevent waterlogging on railway tracks during heavy rainfall. He emphasized the importance of regular cleaning of drains and bridges alongside the tracks to facilitate the free flow of rainwater. Additionally, Railway Under Bridges (RUBs) were inspected to ensure that water accumulation does not disrupt road traffic in the monsoon season.
In addition to assessing ongoing infrastructure projects, the DRM examined the progress of constructing the fourth railway line between Ahmedabad-Kankaria and Vatva. This new line is anticipated to alleviate operational pressure on Ahmedabad Junction and enhance the punctuality of train services upon completion. The inspection also involved visits to various stations and a railway colony, where passenger amenities and cleanliness standards were reviewed.
Ved Prakash stressed the importance of maintaining high levels of hygiene at stations and railway residential colonies as part of a continuous cleanliness drive. He directed officials to ensure effective waste disposal arrangements at railway stations and instructed health and sanitation inspectors to oversee these efforts. Senior divisional officers accompanied the DRM during the inspection, briefing him on various initiatives undertaken by the authorities.
Concluding the review, Ved Prakash urged officials to keep field staff vigilant and prepared to respond swiftly to any emergency situations that may arise during the monsoon. The goal is to uphold safe and efficient railway operations throughout the season.
