On the 126th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh, actor Raj Babbar shared his experience of playing the iconic figure on screen. Babbar emphasized the significance of embodying Udham Singh’s story and the responsibility it entailed. He took to Instagram to reflect on the historical importance of Udham Singh and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Babbar highlighted the injustice of the massacre and how Udham Singh sought revenge for the atrocities committed. He expressed the personal impact of portraying Udham Singh, describing it as a profound and thrilling experience. Raj Babbar played the role of Udham Singh in the 1999 Indian Punjabi film “Shaheed Uddham Singh,” released just before Singh’s birth centenary.
Born in 1899 in Punjab, Udham Singh avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre by assassinating Michael O’Dwyer, the then Lieutenant Governor of Punjab.
