The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief, Raj Thackeray, expressed disappointment with the state government’s lackluster handling of Maharashtra Day celebrations. Thackeray visited the Martyrs’ Memorial after the Chief Minister’s tribute and criticized the government’s approach as routine rather than celebratory. He highlighted the poor state of the memorial and public apathy towards the significance of the day.
Thackeray took to social media to voice his concerns, accusing the administration of neglecting the grandeur that Maharashtra Day deserves. He questioned the government’s lack of enthusiasm, suggesting it might be influenced by a desire to please central leadership or avoid offending leaders from other states. Thackeray emphasized the need for the Martyrs’ Memorial to be revered as a place of pilgrimage for all Maharashtrians.
The MNS chief urged Marathi citizens not to forget the history and struggle behind Samyukta Maharashtra. He called for unity among the people to demand the respect and celebration that Maharashtra Day merits. Thackeray emphasized the role of Marathi people in building Mumbai and urged them to take pride in their heritage and history.
