Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has instructed the Police Department to take a zero-tolerance stance on crime. He emphasized that Range Inspectors General (IGs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) will be directly responsible for maintaining law and order in their areas. Sharma urged the police to go beyond routine arrests and focus on dismantling organized crime networks, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and illegal arms smuggling.
During a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister expressed the need for swift and decisive police action to deter criminals. He specifically addressed recent criminal incidents in Alwar, Sri Ganganagar, and Bharatpur. Sharma also highlighted the importance of reducing organized crime and firing incidents further to enhance public confidence and the state’s reputation.
To tackle crime effectively, Sharma directed the Police Department to conduct special operations against illegal arms supplies, especially in districts with high Arms Act cases. He stressed the importance of tracing weapons back to their sources to dismantle the entire criminal network. Additionally, the Chief Minister ordered strict measures against land mafia activities, hawala transactions, and other illicit funding sources to weaken criminal influence.
Emphasizing the significance of addressing crimes against women and children promptly, Sharma instructed the police to ensure thorough investigations and strict punishment for offenders. He also mandated a timely review and resolution of pending cases related to various criminal activities by Range IGs and SPs. The Chief Minister underscored the importance of holding officers accountable for achieving desired outcomes and promoting public-police coordination through Community Liaison Group (CLG) meetings.
