Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde highlighted that ancient India boasted the world’s highest number of universities, with 19 centers of higher learning that attracted students globally. He emphasized India’s historical excellence in culture, knowledge, and traditions, advocating for a return to that esteemed position. Governor Bagde noted that ancient India’s geographical boundaries were more extensive, encompassing regions now part of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
Governor Bagde praised the intellectual accomplishments of ancient India, noting that students from distant lands sought education here. He discussed the National Education Policy’s aim to instill pride in India’s heritage while preparing youth to lead in various fields. Stressing the importance of understanding historical and cultural legacies, he encouraged students in technology and professional education to be well-versed in India’s rich past.
The Governor shared insights about Rajasthan’s tribal freedom fighter Kalibai and her role in India’s independence movement. He underscored the significance of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiatives in nurturing talent and promoting national unity among the youth. During the interaction, Governor Bagde acquainted students with Rajasthan’s geography, culture, and historical heritage, discussing topics like the Narmada waters diversion to Rajasthan, Chittorgarh Fort’s importance, and the history of the Gang Canal.
