Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin praised Hobart Hurricanes’ captain Nathan Ellis for his impressive bowling performance of 3/30 against Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League. Ashwin highlighted Ellis’ crucial wickets during the death overs, emphasizing his potential for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 where Ellis will play for Chennai Super Kings.

Ashwin commended Ellis’ bowling skills, mentioning his effective yorkers and change of pace that proved vital in the recent BBL match. Despite Ashwin’s absence due to a knee injury, he expressed optimism about Ellis’ form and contribution to the team.

In the game, Hobart Hurricanes secured a four-wicket victory over Melbourne Renegades, with Matthew Wade’s composed innings and Ellis’ key wickets playing pivotal roles in the win. The Hurricanes successfully chased down 162 runs, with Wade’s unbeaten 43 and a crucial partnership with Rehan Ahmed guiding them to victory.

Ellis’ game-changing spell disrupted Renegades’ aggressive start, leading to their total of 162 runs. Despite promising performances from Renegades’ batsmen, they failed to capitalize on their starts, resulting in a loss. With this win, Hobart Hurricanes climbed to the second spot on the points table, while Melbourne Renegades languished at the bottom with two losses in three matches.
