The Regional Passport Office in Ahmedabad has implemented various measures to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and transparency for passport applicants, effective from January 1. These measures include increasing daily online appointments and establishing fixed walk-in hours for inquiries and document submissions. Regional Passport Officer Abhijeet Shukla mentioned that the office now offers an additional 100 online appointments daily to reduce waiting times and streamline the passport process.
As part of addressing long-standing concerns regarding appointment availability, the RPO has introduced a walk-in facility at its Gulbai Tekra office. Applicants can now visit the office without a prior online appointment on Mondays and Wednesdays between 10 am and 1 pm to seek information or submit documents. This initiative aims to provide immediate guidance to applicants with pending document-related issues during specific hours.
Under the Passport Seva Programme 2.0, further enhancements have been made to expedite application processing and minimize overall waiting periods. The upgraded system has also led to improved crowd management within the office, alleviating congestion during peak hours. Passport applicants, including Keyur Patel and Kiritsinh Parmar from Ahmedabad, have expressed satisfaction with the recent changes, noting the smoother and faster process compared to the previous system.
For applicants unable to visit the office in person, the RPO has strengthened alternative communication channels, such as a dedicated telephone line, email, and social media handles for inquiries and application status updates. Officials emphasize the importance of carrying all necessary original documents when visiting the office to ensure prompt case resolution. These citizen-centric initiatives are expected to enhance the overall passport application experience in Ahmedabad continually.
