A residential house and land valued at Rs 1.2 crore in Srinagar district, Jammu & Kashmir, owned by a drug peddler, were seized during the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, as per the police. The property, a double-storeyed house with land in Gasoo Hazratbal, belongs to Maqsood Hussain Khan, son of Abdul Majeed Khan, residing in Hazratbal. The attachment was made under the NDPS Act in connection with two FIRs related to drug trafficking.

The police identified the property as unlawfully acquired through illicit drug activities and prohibited any sale, lease, or transfer of the property by the owner. Srinagar police is dedicated to eliminating the drug menace and vows to take strict action against drug offenders, urging citizens to assist by reporting drug-related information. The J&K Police is actively conducting anti-drug operations, with the Lt. Governor emphasizing punitive measures like property attachment to combat drug smuggling.

Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha has been leading awareness campaigns and ‘Padyatras’ across the Union Territory to mobilize society against drug addiction, emphasizing cooperation with law enforcement. The ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan aims to create a drug-free environment through stringent actions against drug traffickers and peddlers.
