The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has predicted a gradual increase in maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu in the upcoming days, with a rise of up to 2 degrees Celsius by March 15. Meanwhile, parts of southern Tamil Nadu may witness light rainfall due to a developing atmospheric system over the Bay of Bengal.
The Chennai Meteorological Department has highlighted a low-level atmospheric circulation prevailing over the southwest Bay of Bengal, likely impacting weather conditions in the southern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. This system is anticipated to bring scattered light rain to isolated areas.
Officials have mentioned that certain locations in the southern coastal districts could receive light rainfall on Thursday, with the weather system expected to persist in the region for the next few days. From now until March 16, isolated areas in the southern coastal districts may experience very light rainfall, while moderate rainfall is projected at a few locations on March 17.
The Meteorological Department has indicated that daytime temperatures in Tamil Nadu may gradually rise by up to 2 degrees Celsius over the next few days, a common occurrence during the pre-summer period when heat conditions intensify in southern India. In Chennai, a partly cloudy sky is expected on Thursday, with a maximum temperature of around 35 degrees forecasted by the Regional Meteorological Centre.
Meteorologists have advised residents to be cautious during peak afternoon hours as temperatures increase gradually across the state. While the rise in temperatures is not extreme, authorities recommend staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged sun exposure during midday. With the combination of rising temperatures and intermittent rainfall along the southern coast, Tamil Nadu is likely to experience a mix of warm and slightly unsettled weather conditions in the coming days.
