Ahead of the upcoming release of the much-awaited biopic “Raja Shivaji,” actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh visited the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Temple in Bhiwandi, Thane, to seek blessings for their project. The couple participated in a traditional aarti during their visit, engaging with fans afterwards. They were warmly welcomed with a dhol-tasha performance and traditional rituals, with the villagers turning out in large numbers to see them.
A ‘Raja Shivaji’ themed rangoli was specially created to welcome the couple, adding to the festive atmosphere. The film, directed by Riteish, features a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, and others. Riteish not only directs the movie but also plays the lead role, besides writing and producing it.
“Raja Shivaji” is a historical epic based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Maratha Empire’s founder. The movie showcases Shivaji’s journey of establishing an independent kingdom by challenging the Deccan Sultanates and the Mughal Empire. Scheduled for a global theatrical release on May 1, the film will be presented in multiple languages such as Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu.
The cinematography for “Raja Shivaji” is handled by Santosh Sivan, while Urvashi Saxena oversees the editing. Produced by Jio Studios and backed by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh, the film promises to bring to life the legendary tale of Shivaji Maharaj’s valor and leadership.
