Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for congratulating him and his party on winning the March 5 Nepal parliamentary elections. Lamichhane emphasized that the new government would focus on “development diplomacy” and enhancing ties with India.
In response to PM Modi’s message, Lamichhane highlighted the importance of the democratic mandate given by the Nepali people in shaping the party’s approach to regional cooperation and economic growth. He reiterated the commitment of RSP and the incoming government to nurturing a relationship with India based on mutual respect and shared prosperity.
Lamichhane also expressed optimism about deepening cooperation between Nepal and India in various sectors critical for economic development and regional connectivity. He underscored the potential for collaboration in areas such as connectivity, cultural tourism, energy, and trade to ensure a prosperous future for both nations.
PM Modi, acknowledging the RSP’s significant victory in Nepal’s parliamentary elections, personally congratulated President Rabi Lamichhane and senior leader Balen Shah. Modi extended his best wishes for the upcoming new government and reaffirmed India’s dedication to collaborating with Nepal for the mutual progress, prosperity, and well-being of both countries. He expressed confidence in the future growth of India-Nepal relations through joint efforts.
As the RSP secured victory in 125 out of 163 constituencies under the First-Past-the-Post system, accounting for approximately 76% of the total seats, the party’s success in the elections was evident. India’s support for Nepal during the elections, including the provision of 650 vehicles and other election materials, further highlighted the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
