The Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj district are equipping youth and women with vocational skills to achieve financial independence. Managed by banks with state government support, RSETIs focus on entrepreneurship development through training programs like the ‘Junior Beauty Practitioner’ course. Participants, including women from rural areas, are offered free training to start beauty services or parlours, aligning with the ‘Skill India’ campaign to empower women economically.
A key aspect of the RSETI center is its inclusivity, welcoming participants from various districts and providing special evening classes for skill enhancement. Instructor Reena Kushwaha highlighted the program’s aim to make women self-reliant by not only imparting technical skills but also guiding them in business startup processes. Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the training emphasizes making participants job-ready for a self-sufficient life.
Trainees at the institute praised the initiative for fostering self-reliance among women and creating avenues for personal growth. They noted the positive impact of government schemes in empowering women to discover their talents and convert them into sustainable employment opportunities. Participants like Urmila Patel and Pushpa highlighted the focus on skills like tailoring and beauty services, enabling them to pursue self-employment and achieve financial autonomy.
