As Ruturaj Gaikwad finds his form, Ravichandran Ashwin praised the Chennai Super Kings skipper’s recent performances, stating that the team is growing more formidable with each game. Gaikwad, initially struggling in the IPL 2026 season, bounced back with strong innings in the last two matches, scoring 74 not out and 67 runs against Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, respectively.
Ashwin highlighted Gaikwad’s adaptability to challenging wickets and his crucial role in stabilizing the CSK batting lineup. The partnership between Gaikwad and Kartik Sharma, who scored an unbeaten 54 off 40 balls, played a pivotal role in CSK’s victory over Mumbai Indians. Former India player Cheteshwar Pujara also commended Sharma’s performance, emphasizing the trust CSK had placed in the young player.
With a win over Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings climbed to sixth place in the standings and are set to face the Delhi Capitals on May 5.
