Opener Sanju Samson, who has been part of the Indian T20 team for a few years, including the 2024 T20 World Cup, made a remarkable return after facing a dip in form. Despite not playing in the previous World Cup, Samson seized the opportunity in the current edition, notably scoring an unbeaten 97 against the West Indies.

Indian team’s bowling coach Morne Morkel praised Samson for his dedication and composure, highlighting his significant contribution in the crucial match that secured India’s spot in the semifinals. Morkel emphasized Samson’s talent, work ethic, and ability to deliver under pressure, commending his resilience and performance when given the chance.

Morkel also addressed the situation of explosive opener Abhishek Sharma, dismissing concerns about Sharma’s confidence and playing style. He emphasized the learning curve for young players like Sharma in international cricket, noting the importance of finding rhythm and confidence through positive moments on the field.

The bowling coach encouraged Sharma to focus on his strengths, stay positive, and approach each game as a new opportunity to showcase his abilities. Morkel highlighted Sharma’s potential to bounce back and make a significant impact, emphasizing the need for self-belief and a fresh mindset in upcoming matches against England.
