Actor-politician R. Sarathkumar met Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagenthran to request a specific organizational role within the party. This meeting, held at Nagenthran’s residence in T Nagar, is significant as the BJP gears up for the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. Sarathkumar’s move comes amidst internal discussions to strengthen the party structure, aiming to clarify his position within the state unit.
Sarathkumar, a member of the BJP’s national executive council, merged his All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) with the BJP two years ago. This strategic merger aimed to enhance the party’s social and political outreach in the state, especially among communities where Sarathkumar holds influence. Following the meeting, Sarathkumar expressed satisfaction with the state leadership’s response after formally conveying his concerns in writing.
Nagenthran acknowledged the issues raised by Sarathkumar and assured him that his demands would be taken seriously. Sarathkumar clarified that his previous remarks stemmed from a sense of anguish rather than disagreement with the party’s leadership. He reiterated his commitment to the BJP and expressed optimism that a positive resolution would be achieved soon. Sarathkumar also mentioned his willingness to meet Union Minister and BJP’s Tamil Nadu election in-charge Piyush Goyal if called, as consultations continue regarding his role within the party.
