Search operations are ongoing in Manipur’s Churachandpur district to find a 14-year-old girl student who was swept away by flash floodwaters. The incident took place on June 11 at Laijon Veng in Tuibong Sub-Division due to heavy rainfall, where the girl, identified as Lamboikim, was carried away by strong currents while returning home from school.
Despite extensive search efforts by local groups and residents along the Tuitha River, the missing girl has not been located yet. Adverse weather conditions and lack of proper rescue infrastructure have hampered the search. In response to the situation’s gravity, the Churachandpur district administration has launched a significant search-and-rescue operation with the State Disaster Response Force’s support.
The State Disaster Response Force team, led by Team Leader Havildar Riyajuddin, has deployed inflatable boats and specialized equipment to intensify the search along the river and surrounding areas. The team is committed to continuing the operation until the girl’s body is found. Concurrently, volunteers from various organizations and local residents are also actively participating in the search efforts to locate the missing student.
