Senior National Conference leader and former Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon passed away in Jammu on Friday. The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly paid tribute to the former legislator with a two-minute silence. Akhoon, a well-known political figure from Kargil in Ladakh, was the former Food Minister of the region.
The news of Akhoon’s passing was shared with the Legislative Assembly by National Conference spokesperson and legislator, Tanveer Sadiq. Hailing from Sangra village in Kargil, Akhoon was recognized as a seasoned politician who served the region with distinction.
