The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) used government funds for a rally in Moga. SAD senior leader Daljit Singh Cheema criticized AAP for connecting the rally to a government scheme while actually using it to kick off their 2027 election campaign. Cheema highlighted that government resources were utilized for the rally, which featured AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, raising concerns about political misuse of public funds.
Terming the situation as disgraceful, Cheema pointed out that the rally focused on political speeches and baseless accusations against rivals. He called for the recovery of all expenses incurred during the rally from AAP, emphasizing that it did not adhere to government event standards. Cheema also criticized the involvement of top state officials in the rally, warning against the politicization of the bureaucracy and its impact on democracy.
Cheema expressed apprehension that coercing government officers to participate in political events could lead to further politicization and hinder fair elections. He cautioned against the potential influence of the ruling party on the state machinery, raising concerns about the impartiality of electoral processes in such a scenario.
