The Shiv Sena, under Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s leadership, emphasized the need for India to combat corruption to achieve global leadership and development. The party criticized the practice of shielding corrupt individuals in power and highlighted the detrimental impact of diverting public attention to divisive issues like “Love Jihad” instead of addressing corruption scandals. Drawing a comparison with China’s strict anti-corruption stance, the editorial pointed out the lack of similar accountability in India, where corrupt officials often evade punishment.
The editorial also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its contradictory actions regarding corruption. Despite slogans against corruption, the BJP has faced accusations of embracing individuals linked to corruption. The editorial raised concerns about the lack of transparency surrounding the “PM Cares Fund” and alleged connections between companies under investigation and the BJP’s election funding. The Shiv Sena called for an end to the cycle of protecting corrupt politicians through political alliances and urged for stronger measures to combat corruption in India.
