The Shri Amarnath Yatra proceeded smoothly with the fifth batch of pilgrims leaving Jammu for Srinagar amidst rain and stringent security measures. Simultaneously, devotees commenced their journey from the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam towards the sacred cave shrine. Pilgrims at Pahalgam expressed gratitude and devotion as they embarked on the challenging trek to the Amarnath cave.
Officials reported a consistent influx of pilgrims from various parts of the country despite intermittent rain and robust security arrangements along the pilgrimage routes. In the last three days since the Yatra commenced on July 3, over 56,000 devotees have had the opportunity to ‘darshan’ inside the holy cave. On Sunday alone, more than 24,000 pilgrims from different regions paid their respects at the sacred cave.
The pilgrimage, which began on Friday, witnessed a total of 32,313 pilgrims visiting the shrine in the initial two days. The weather in the shrine area remained partly cloudy, but the Yatra proceeded without disruptions on both routes. Pilgrims who completed their darshan returned to their respective base camps by evening, while a significant number of devotees continued to arrive daily at both Baltal and Nunwan base camps.
