The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board made significant decisions to enhance the shrine’s appeal and boost the local area. Led by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Board approved initiatives like an international museum dedicated to Maa Shakti’s spiritual heritage and a modern sound-and-light show. Additionally, plans include setting up coaching centers for free NEET preparation and a rehabilitation program for service providers along the yatra track.
The Board emphasized inclusive growth by prioritizing procurement from local self-help groups and entrepreneurs. They aim to enhance the pilgrim experience and increase pilgrimage numbers. The focus is on transforming Katra into a clean, vibrant city with modern infrastructure for residents and pilgrims.
To ensure pilgrim safety, the Board increased insurance coverage to Rs 10 lakh per pilgrim. They also reviewed the progress of infrastructure projects like yatra track widening and new constructions, emphasizing adherence to timelines. The meeting, attended by Board members and officials, highlighted the commitment to enhancing the spiritual and overall experience for visitors.
