The Shri Yamunotri Dham and Shri Gangotri Dham will open on Akshay Tritiya, marking the beginning of the annual Char Dham Yatra. The temples are adorned with flowers, and tight security measures are in place. The ceremonial palanquins of Goddess Ganga and Goddess Yamuna have left their winter abodes amid fervor and devotion.
The departure processions were filled with celebrations and traditional music, with locals and pilgrims expressing deep faith. The idols will be installed in the temple premises on Sunday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the official opening, emphasizing the state’s preparations for a safe and organized pilgrimage.
The Chief Minister extended warm wishes to all devotees and urged adherence to rules and environmental conservation. Kedarnath Dham will open on April 22, followed by Shri Badrinath Dham on April 23. Over 18.9 lakh pilgrims have registered online for the yatra, with Kedarnath having the highest number of registrations. The yatra was inaugurated from Rishikesh, with additional facilities arranged due to the cold weather in the mountainous regions.
